With three lines and 17 Japanese syllables, the haiku is the shortest known verse form. Besides its brevity, its most important characteristics are conciseness, presence, and open-endedness.
These three haiku follow these basic principles but use free form, which is better suited to the German language. For the musical composition, the sound material contained in the texts was extracted and brought into a form that is also shaped by the principles of haiku.
Snow falls
on the green bush
No bird in the sky
In the window opposite
the woman sleeps with an open book
It’s raining.
Friday afternoon
Pallid light
A plummeting bird
